NeuroStar TMS Technology: How It Works

What Is NeuroStar TMS Technology?

NeuroStar is an advanced form of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) that uses magnetic pulses to activate specific regions of the brain. This non-invasive technology is designed to help patients manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, OCD, and chronic pain without medication or surgery.
Yes. NeuroStar has been used in over 5.3 million treatments across more than 147,400 patients, with an 83% response rate for clinical depression. Many of these patients also report improvement in symptoms related to anxiety, migraines, and other neurologically rooted conditions. It is trusted nationwide for treatment-resistant cases.
Most patients tolerate NeuroStar comfortably. Some describe a light tapping sensation at the treatment site during initial sessions, which tends to fade over time. The procedure requires no anesthesia and does not affect memory or concentration.
NeuroStar TMS is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare, for eligible cases. Coverage for other uses may depend on your plan and history. Our team helps confirm benefits and manage approvals.

Smart Brain Stimulation

The NeuroStar system targets key areas of the brain using magnetic pulses with MRI-strength intensity. Its design ensures consistent accuracy during each session.

Backed by Technology, Not Medication

NeuroStar delivers results without medication, sedation, or surgery. It’s a comfortable outpatient experience with no disruption to your day.

Used in Complex Care Settings

NeuroStar is trusted in both clinical and neurological care, often chosen when patients do not respond well to standard treatment approaches.

What to Expect

You’ll begin with a full neurological evaluation to determine if NeuroStar is right for your needs. A personalised treatment plan will be developed, and the treatment area will be mapped. Dr. Asad is one of the few Neurologists in Northeast Florida to be Board Certified in Brain Injury Medicine, offering expertise in complex brain and nervous system care.
You’ll sit comfortably as the NeuroStar coil is placed gently against your head. Magnetic pulses stimulate targeted regions of the brain. Seven-week treatment length is recommended, but may vary based on your condition.
There’s no downtime or recovery period. Many patients report gradual, ongoing improvements. Our team will continue monitoring your progress and adjusting care as needed.

Backed By Proven Research

NeuroStar uses magnetic pulses similar in strength to those found in MRI technology to stimulate nerve cells in targeted areas of the brain. This process helps support healthier brain activity, which may lead to long-term symptom relief for patients who have not responded to other forms of treatment.

Trusted By Professionals

Cleared by the FDA in 2008, NeuroStar has earned the confidence of medical providers across the country. It is now covered by many major insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare, and is often recommended as a safe alternative for patients who cannot tolerate or have not benefited from medication.
