TMS Therapy for PTSD in Jacksonville, FL

What Is TMS Therapy for PTSD?

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood and stress regulation. It offers a medication-free option for individuals with PTSD who haven’t responded to traditional treatments.
TMS Therapy has shown encouraging results for individuals with PTSD, especially those with overlapping depression or anxiety symptoms. Over 5.3 million NeuroStar TMS treatments have been performed across more than 147,400 patients, with an 83% response rate reported in clinical depression. Many patients treated with TMS also experience a reduction in PTSD-related symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, and hypervigilance.
TMS is generally well tolerated. Some patients report mild discomfort near the treatment area during the first few sessions, often described as a tapping or tingling sensation. There is no need for anesthesia, and it does not affect memory or alertness.
TMS Therapy is covered by most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare, for conditions such as depression. Coverage for PTSD may vary by plan. Our team will help you check your benefits and handle all required paperwork.

What to Expect

PTSD is associated with changes in brain activity related to fear, memory, and stress response. Before starting TMS Therapy, you’ll meet with a Neurologist for a full evaluation of your symptoms and medical history. Our clinic in Northeast Florida creates customized treatment plans to help reduce trauma-related triggers and improve emotional stability.
Sessions are held in a quiet, outpatient setting. You’ll sit comfortably while a small magnetic coil is placed against your head, delivering targeted pulses to the prefrontal cortex, an area often disrupted in PTSD. Each session takes about 20 minutes, five days a week, typically 7 weeks. You remain fully alert during the procedure.
Many patients report improved mood, reduced reactivity to trauma cues, and better sleep. Results are often gradual and may continue to build after treatment ends. There is no downtime, and we provide follow-up care to help you maintain long-term progress.

Backed By Proven Research

TMS Therapy uses magnetic pulses, similar in strength to those in an MRI, to stimulate nerve cells in key areas of the brain. This approach can help regulate brain activity and support long-term relief from PTSD symptoms, especially in patients who haven’t responded to conventional therapies.

Trusted By Professionals

Since its FDA approval in 2008, NeuroStar TMS Therapy has become a trusted tool among neurologists and mental health providers. With expanded coverage from Medicare, Tricare, and other insurers, it offers a safe, effective alternative for patients seeking relief from trauma-related symptoms.
