TMS Therapy for Depression in Jacksonville, FL

What Is TMS Therapy for Depression?

TMS Therapy is a noninvasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the brain areas involved in mood control. It’s typically recommended for individuals with depression who haven’t responded to medication or prefer a non-drug alternative.
TMS Therapy has shown strong results in clinical use. Over 5.3 million NeuroStar Advanced TMS treatments have been delivered to more than 147,400 patients, with 83% reporting a positive response. It’s a promising solution for individuals who haven't responded well to antidepressants.
Most patients report only mild to moderate discomfort during the first few sessions, typically near the treatment site. This sensation often lessens as the treatment progresses. TMS doesn’t require anesthesia, won’t impact your memory, and is much gentler than options like ECT.
Yes, TMS Therapy is covered by most major insurance providers, including Medicare and Tricare, for patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder. Our office can help confirm your plan’s eligibility and take care of the paperwork for you.

Non-Invasive Treatment

NeuroStar TMS is a non-surgical, outpatient therapy that uses magnetic pulses instead of medication. No anesthesia or sedation is needed.

No Downtime Required

You can drive yourself home and continue your normal activities immediately after each session, including work or school.

Insurance-Friendly

TMS Therapy is widely covered by health insurance plans, making it a more accessible option for many patients.

What to Expect

You will have an initial consultation with one of our specialists to determine if TMS is the right option for you. This includes reviewing your mental health history, current medications, and previous treatment responses. If approved, we will take precise measurements of your head to locate the treatment area and customise the settings for your sessions. No fasting, sedation, or medication changes are typically required before starting.
Most patients return to work or daily activities immediately after each session. Side effects are generally mild and may include scalp discomfort or headache, especially in the first week. Improvement is often gradual, with many noticing positive changes by week two or three. Your care team will monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed to support long-term success.
Many patients report improved mood, reduced reactivity to trauma cues, and better sleep. Results are often gradual and may continue to build after treatment ends. There is no downtime, and we provide follow-up care to help you maintain long-term progress.

Real Results, Backed by Research

TMS Therapy uses MRI-strength magnetic pulses to activate areas of the brain linked to mood. These targeted pulses help rebalance brain chemistry, offering real hope for long-term relief, even for those who’ve struggled for years.

Recommended by Experts

Since receiving FDA clearance in 2008, NeuroStar Advanced Therapy TMS has gained widespread insurance support, including coverage under most Medicare and Tricare plans across the country. It is not typically used as a first-line treatment but serves as an effective alternative for individuals who haven’t responded to antidepressant medications or cannot tolerate their side effects.
